Keeley Peace’s Clutch Hitting Propels Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers To Victory Over Bullock Creek

Keeley Peace drove in four runs on three hits to lead Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers past Bullock Creek 15-0 on Thursday at Bullock Creek High School. Peace hit a home run to center field in the second scoring two, tripled in the third scoring one, and doubled in the fifth scoring one.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Bullock Creek committed an error, and Tyla Tunney tripled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Five more Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 7-0. Madison Burke singled, scoring one run, Laiken Deckert singled, scoring one run, Peace homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Anna Briggs singled, scoring one run.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Peace tripled to center field, and Julia Mattson hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers scored six runs on six hits in the top of the fifth inning. Briggs singled, scoring one run, Tunney singled, scoring one run, Sophia Christie singled, scoring two runs, Peace doubled, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run.
Burke earned the win for Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two. L Coyle took the loss for Bullock Creek. The pitcher went five innings, giving up 15 runs (12 earned) on 19 hits, striking out 10 and walking two.

Keeley Peace hit two home runs and drove in five as Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers defeated Meridian 14-6 on Tuesday at 2401 Grove Street Rd. Peace homered in the second and fourth innings.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers were the first to get on the board in the first when Jaylynn Yenna homered to center field, scoring two runs.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers added six more runs in the top of the second inning on three hits. Peace homered to center field, scoring three runs, Jordan Mielke drew a walk, scoring one run, and Tyla Tunney doubled, scoring two runs.
Meridian scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Sophia Beach doubled, scoring two runs, and Meghan Mock was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Julia Mattson and Anna Briggs.

Mattson paced Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Beach provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Meridian with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-2 on the day. Allie Anderson and Beach each collected two hits for Meridian. Mariah Mashell led Meridian with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Meridian turned one double play in the game.

Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers Fall To Meridian Despite Strong Effort From Jaylynn Yenna

Jaylynn Yenna collected three hits in four at bats, but Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers lost to Meridian 8-7 on Tuesday at 2401 Grove Street Rd. Yenna hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the ninth inning.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers was right in it until Meridian singled in the tenth inning.
Meridian jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Ellie Beach singled, scoring one run, Sophia Beach singled, scoring one run, and Mariah Mashell homered to center field, scoring two runs.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a solo home run to center field by Yenna, and a double by Anna Briggs.
Meridian took the lead in the top of the eighth. Hailey Thompson singled, scoring one run, to give Meridian the edge, 5-4.
Emma Proctor singled to center field, which helped Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers tie the game at five in the bottom of the eighth.
In the top of the ninth inning, Meridian went back into the lead after Beach singled down the left field line, and Mashell walked, each scoring one run.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers tied the game in the bottom of the ninth thanks to a double by Keeley Peace, and a single by Yenna.
Beach earned the win for Meridian. The pitcher allowed 12 hits and seven runs (four earned) over 10 innings, striking out 18 and walking one. Madison Burke took the loss for Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers. The hurler went 10 innings, giving up eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits, striking out 16 and walking six.
Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers amassed 12 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Peace led Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers with four hits in five at bats. Proctor collected three hits for Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers in five at bats. Standish-Sterling Varsity Panthers didn't commit a single error in the field. Briggs had the most chances in the field with 17.
Meridian accumulated 11 hits in the game. Mashell drove the middle of the lineup, leading Meridian with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Beach went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Meridian in hits. Allie Anderson and Hailee Smith each collected multiple hits for Meridian. Grace Nayes led Meridian with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.

SSC girl soccer team were defeated by Freeland 8-0. They will be back on the pitch this Thursday. Beaverton comes to town for a 5:00 game.
Varsity baseball moved to 11-1 on the season beating Sanford Meridian twice 15 to 0. Pitching again led the team with a no-hitter by Preston Kann and a combined no hitter by Landon Nixon and Carson Koin. Jay Roper led the offense with four hits over the doubleheader with the whole lineup contributing offensively to the wins. The team has to Bullock Creek Thursday for another conference doubleheader.

The SSC girls soccer team was victorious on the pitch today! They beat Gladwin 4-1. Analeis Ming scored 3 goals and Addison Schaenzer scored 1 goal. Luci Waldie, Aanya Sweet, Kennedy Kuberski & Charlotte Ming each registered an assist. Today was a hard fought and very physical game.
The Coed Track Meet @ Shepherd that was cancelled has been rescheduled for May 4th. 4:30-field events 5:15-running events.

Baseball Update: The JV/Varsity Baseball games scheduled for tomorrow, Friday April 24th with Beaverton are being rescheduled for May 11th. SB will be traveling to Beaverton tomorrow as scheduled!
The SSC ladies panthers brought home another victory tonight. They defeated Shepherd 7-1. Analeis Ming lead the way by scoring in 6 goals and assisting on another. Charlotte Ming chipped in 1 goal to complete the scoring. Aanya Sweet, Addison Schaenzer & Karlie Buckler each notch an assist. Terrific effort tonight ladies! The ladies next on Thursday at Gladwin.

The JV Baseball game today at Garber is being pushed back to 2pm start time. Garber feels that will ensure a playable field today! Good luck today Coach Deckert and team!
Varsity baseball got back on the field yesterday and traveled to Garber. We came away with two quality wins, 4-0 and 8-1. Fantastic pitching by Preston Kann, Carson Koin, Landon Nixon and Rylee Blanchard led the way. The Panthers got timely hitting from Noah Begres and Karter Fegan in game two. Ben Briggs had a fantastic day overall, leading the team with four hits.
SSC Lady Panther scored another win tonight. They beat Bullock Creek 4-2. This was a hard fought win coming off a late game the night before. Very gritty! Charlotte Ming lead the way with 2 goals and an assist. Analeis Ming added a goal and Kennedy Kuberski added an assist. Luci Waldie scored her first goal of the season! Makiya Bellor collected 6 saves in the win.
