ANOTHER SHUTOUT FOR STANDISH

Standish-Sterling had its soccer stadium rocking, rolling to a 6-0 victory over Gladwin in Jack Pine Conference action.

“We have come a long way as a program these past few years, thanks to great leadership in our district and support from our community,” Standish coach Doug Dahn said. “Our field and stadium are outstanding and we are starting to get some good crowds at our games.

“And the team continues to put together good performances each time they step on the field.

The Panthers (5-1, 3-0) registered their fourth shutout of the season, with Branton Bartlett notching five saves and Lucas Verdusco adding three.

Ben Briggs and Levi Cameron each scored two goals while Landon Nixon added one goal and Eli Steckert scored his first varsity goal as a Panther. Carson Koin enjoyed an impactful game with four assists. Cameron and Jacek Barwinski each had one assist.

The Standish-Sterling Lady Panthers Swimming and Diving Team is officially back in action. The lady panthers swam at the Pentathlon Thursday at John Glenn High School Pool in Bay City. They did not disappoint on the medal stand taking 5 of the top 25 spots out of over 100 swimmers from 8 teams. Freshman Mikaya Bellor placed 9th, finishing with 48 points.Four other swimmers placed in the top 25. Ayla Donahue placing 12th overall, Sophie Fox placed 18th overall, Jordan Mielke placed 21st overall, and Cloee Markle placed 26th overall

It was nice to see our Freshman get their first varsity swim in and get back to racing. The girls were excited and energetic. We have 2 weeks to train before our next dual meet and are looking forward to another successful season.
